Bernice Thurman Hunter (November 3, 1922 - May 29, 2002) was a Canadian children's author.

Innate within Toronto, Ontario, Hunter spent her adult years as an Eaton's employee, and did not publish her first book, That Scatterbrain Booky (1981), until she was a grandmother. Her stories come recalled lovingly by her fans for showing an precise & gratifying portrayal of Toronto through the Depression & War years. She maintained the connection by having her roots, & oft returned to the areas she wrote just about to give public readings of her works.

Hunter had the people of health challenges around her late years, even so she continued writing. Within 2001, she was made the Member of the Order of Canada. When a honour was awarded posthumously, she was informed of the award shortly prior to her dying.
